POSITION DETAILS

The Director of Development, Corporate and Foundation Engagement serves as a key member of the team within the Office for Institutional Advancement. The successful candidate will be a creative and collaborative member of the Advancement team and will have a deep knowledge of effective corporate and foundation engagement strategies, including significant personal experience in developing partnerships and securing increased support from corporations and foundations for institutions of higher education. The Director will focus on developing new relationships as well as sustaining and developing existing relationships to raise philanthropic funds and expand opportunities supporting campus- wide initiatives and priorities. The successful candidate personally manages an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects and will collaborate with Advancement and other BMCC colleagues to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective foundation and corporate donors. This position reports to the Vice President, Office for Institutional Advancement.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, key duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • In coordination with the Vice President, Office for Institutional Advancement, develop and execute Advancement and campaign priorities and an annual operating plan with accountable monthly and quarterly monetary and activity goals.

  • Meet or exceed agreed upon departmental metrics and provide timely measurement reports.

  • Work with the Advancement team, Deans, and other academic leaders to identify funding priorities and build related cases for support targeted to corporate and/or foundation support.

  • Maintain a dynamic portfolio of key foundation and corporate contacts, secure new levels of support through grants, partnerships, sponsorships, and other charitable initiatives.

  • Provide support to Advancement and College leaders with key foundation and corporate solicitations.

  • As a member of BMCC’s Advancement team, participate in prospect management and prospect strategy meetings.

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to and meaningful recognition of donor/investors.

  • Draft high-quality proposals including, grant requests, partnership invitations, letters, emails, and other fundraising communications to support best-practice corporate and foundation engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

PREFERRED

  • Master's preferred.

  • Three (3) - Five (5) years of demonstrated success in fund raising experience with foundations and corporations.

  • Knowledge of Raiser's Edge and prospect research tools is desired.

  • The successful candidate will have outstanding written communication and people skills, the ability to operate in a fast-paced public college environment while focusing on priorities among multiple responsibilities and being accountable for campaign goals

  • Demonstrated ability to work with business, philanthropic and community leaders, and to interact at the highest level of organizations with confidence and effectiveness.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Directs College corporate and foundation relations strategy and operations.

  • Designs, develops and oversees strategic program to secure corporate and foundation funding for various College initiatives

  • Responsible for meeting specific goals and targets

  • Develops funding strategies, assesses outcome of strategic plan, and refines approaches to meet priority objectives

  • Oversees a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors to establish and sustain ongoing relations; cultivates new prospects

  • Maintains relationships with sponsoring organizations to promote and maintain funding

  • Ensures reporting requirements are completed in timely and accurate manner

  • May develop proposals for institutional, academic, and arts grants

  • Manages professional and clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary range is $83,878 - $132,987; commensurate with qualifications, education and experience.
